We are Barbara and Peter Sperl and we started growing lavender in 2008 on our lifestyle farm in Apiti in the Ruahine Ranges. Over the years we planted more and more lavender and had over 3500 plants before moving to a smaller place at the beach in 2017. The lavender was and still is organically grown, hand picked and then steam distilled to produce our award winning essential oil.
After distilling our own first lavender essential oil, we became interested in making natural skin care products that could harness the many beneficial qualities of lavender. The skin being the largest organ of our body, we believe you should only use products for your skin made with ingredients you would be able to eat.
We learned how to make soap using the traditional cold process method. Once we started making our own soap, it became a passion and almost an obsession. Cold process soap made with all-natural ingredients like plant oils and butters creates a creamy lather for deep moisturisation. Unlike other soap types, cold process versions penetrate deep into the skin to help minimise dry itchy skin.
Now we are fortunate enough to be able to follow two of our passions: lavender and soap making.
You will find us at the Feilding Farmers Market every Friday morning. We have been going there since 2007 and we enjoy talking to our costumers about our products.
